In March 2017, Domenica Fiore was honoured with product and packaging awards in multiple categories at the 2017 Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition. In the competition for Northern Hemisphere Extra Virgin Olive Oil, our Olio Novello won Gold while Olio Reserva and Olio Veritas each won Silver medals. Gold and Silver awards were received for our Olio Veritas and Olio Monaco packaging, acknowledging the contemporary design of our labels and the effective use of design standards, respectively.
Now in its 18th year, this highly regarded competition is the top-ranking EVOO competition in the United States and fifth in the world, bringing together the best oils from around the world to be celebrated for achieving the highest standards of integrity, quality and professionalism. The competition was comprised of 369 producers from Argentina, Australia, Chile, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Portugal, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, the Uruguay and the United States.
A 100-point scoring system is used in this competition, rating oils by aroma, taste and harmony. A total score of 94 and over allows for the possibility of a Best of Class award. Gold requires 86-100 points, Silver 76-85 and Bronze 65-75.
Our early cold press of organic extra virgin olive oil, Gold medal winner Olio Novello, is a blend of Moraiolo, Frantoio and Leccino olives. High in polyphenols, this intense green and fruity unfiltered oil has flavours of fresh herbs and artichoke with a spicy pepper finish.
Olio Reserva, our international award-winning master blend of carefully selected Moraiolo, Leccino and Frantoio olives, is cold-pressed to produce a fruity, well-balanced DOP extra virgin olive oil.
Olio Veritas, our cold press of organic extra virgin olive oil, is a blend of Frantoio, Leccino and Canino olives. Hand-harvested in November and pressed within four hours, this medium-robust oil has spiciness with notes of green almond, arugula and freshly cut grass.
Our Olio Monaco, is produced exclusively from a single variety of Canino olives. This exquisite oil, with aromas of green fruit and notes of herbs, has exceptional harmony and persistence. This oil, along with all Domenica Fiore products, is Kosher certified and certified organic.
