    TERRAOLIVO is the most important international Olive Oil competition in the area of eastern Mediterranean and Asia, taking place in the ancient city of Jerusalem, with 630 olive oils participating from 60 production areas. The competition is also renowned for the quality of its international judges, who are specialists in Tasting Olive Oil around the world.

    We are proud to announce that the Domenica Fiore Olio Reserva has been bestowed the honor of being named BEST ORGANIC OLIVE OIL IN THE WORLD at this year’s TERRAOLIVO awards. This blend is D.O.P. certified, meaning, in English, “Protected Designation of Origin”, a coveted designation signaling true quality.

    Domenica Fiore’s commitment to unwavering quality, as embodied in our Olio Reserva, was further recognized with a TOP 10 OLIVE OIL award at the show. The Olio Reserva is a master blend of carefully selected Moraiolo, Leccino and Frantoio cultivars. It is cold-pressed to produce a fruity, well-balanced, full-bodied golden green oil.

    This being our fourth year at TERRAOLIVO, we are grateful to have also received a Gran Prestige Gold for Olio Reserva, as well Gran Prestige Gold for Olio Veritas, and Prestige Gold for Olio Monaco and Olio Novello.

    The 2nd Annual Domina International Olive Oil Contest (DIOOC) was held in Palermo, Sicily this year over four days, coordinated by the esteemed Dr. Antonio Lauro. This event gave participants the unique opportunity to promote their olive oils while offering olive oil enthusiasts a unique venue where they were able to take part in the exciting atmosphere of the competition, follow seminars, attend guided olive oil tastings and learn about olive oil while participating in thematic dinners and innovative culinary initiatives.

    Domenica Fiore’s Olio Reserva received the top award in its category, BEST IN CLASS ORGANIC, and placed top ten in the competition overall. Our Olio Novello, Olio Veritas and Olio Monaco all achieved gold awards.

    In addition to Dr. Antonio Lauro, the judging panel was comprised of highly regarded experts incredibly knowledgeable in olive oil quality. Dr. Lauro is an olive oil consultant, journalist and panel leader, an accessor of extra virgin olive oil quality since 1995 and an International Olive Council (IOC) panel leader since 2003.

    Upon this year’s award recognition both at the DIOOC and recent award competitions, including the NYIOOC, owner and co-founder, Frank Giustra, said “I couldn’t be more proud of Cesare and our team in achieving these award winning results.”

  • Best in Class and Gold at 2017 NYIOOC

    The 5th annual New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC) was held April 24th through April 27th. This premier event draws the most renowned judges from around the world to analyze the largest collection of extra virgin olive oils ever assembled and identify the year’s best of the best. Many of this year’s award winners were announced in New York on Thursday, April 27th, via live stream by founder Curtis Cord.

    A record-setting 910 entries from 28 countries were judged by a panel of 15 experts from 10 different countries, making the NYIOOC, by far, the world’s largest olive oil competition with both the highest number of entries and countries represented. This competition is widely regarded as the most prestigious of all the olive oil competitions worldwide. Of the entrants that participated in this year’s competition, Italy submitted the highest number of entries, with 198 submissions, followed by Spain and the USA. Italy producers also received the highest number of awards for the third year in a row, with 124 awards given.

    This year’s competition panel leaders were Miciyo Yamada, Lina Smith and Robert Harris.  The prestigious judging panel also included Dr. Antonio G. Lauro. Dr. Lauro is an olive oil consultant, journalist and panel leader, an accessor of extra virgin olive oil quality since 1995 and an International Olive Council (IOC) panel leader since 2003.

    This year, Domenica Fiore is honored to have received the top award in its category of BEST OF CLASS for Olio Reserva and Gold Medals for Olio Novello, Olio Veritas, Olio Monaco and Olio Classico.

    This year, Domenica Fiore received multiple awards at the 2017 Olive Japan International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition. This competition is one of the premier olive oil competitions in the world, bringing together the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in awarding medals to the best oils from around the globe.

    2017 marks the sixth year of the Olive Japan International Competition. The judging panel was comprised of industry experts from around the world with extensive knowledge of selection, tasting and food pairings. Oils were judged using a modified 100-point International Olive Council (IOC) Mario Solinas Score Sheet. Scores of 65 or higher were awarded silver medal awards and 76 or higher were awarded gold medals. Oils with scores of 86 or higher, with recommendations by more than 8 judges, were awarded premier medals.

    Olio Novello, Olio Veritas and Olio Reserva received gold awards at this year’s competition, and Olio Monaco a silver medal. We are honored to have received such prestigious recognition from this year’s Olive Japan competition and look forward to participating again next year.

  • 2017 Athena International Olive Oil Competition

    This year Domenica Fiore received multiple highly-coveted awards, including Best in Show for Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil for our Olio Novello, from the 2nd annual Athena International Olive Oil Competition in Pylos, Messinia, Greece. Greece is the world’s third largest olive oil producer and is first in extra virgin olive oil production, ahead of Spain, Italy and Portugal.

    This widely attended competition featured a prestigious judging panel of 23 international experts from 11 countries including globally recognized Antonio Giuseppe Lauro and founder of the Extra Virgin Alliance, Alexandra Kicenik Devarenne.

    295 extra virgin olive oils from nine countries were featured in this year’s ATHIOOC competition from 92 varietals.

    ATHIOOC 2017 awarded 175 medals in the following categories: 17 Double Gold (scoring 95-100%), 65 Gold (scoring 85-95%), 55 Silver (scoring 75-85%) and 38 Bronze (scoring 65-75%).

    Domenica Fiore Olio Novello was awarded the coveted Best in Show for Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil category in addition to receiving a prestigious Double Gold Medal. This oil is pressed from early harvest olives in October when the olives are slightly greener, and the oil is bottled immediately, unfiltered. The result is a bright green oil, spicy with notes of green grass and the flavor of fresh olives.

    Olio Monaco, Olio Reserva and Olio Veritas all received Gold Medals. Olio Monaco is produced exclusively from a single variety of the delicate Canino olives; it has aromas of green fruit and notes of herbs. Olio Reserva is Domenica Fiore’s DOP blend, a golden green oil, robust, fruity and well-balanced. Our Olio Veritas is a medium-robust oil with spiciness and notes of green almond, arugula and freshly cut grass. Domenica Fiore oils are blended from the four traditional central Italian olives – Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino and Canino.

    All our oils are pressed and bottled within four hours of being hand-harvested, to ensure optimal quality and freshness. The Fiore Estate, overlooking the Orvieto Valley, has soil that is mineral-rich in marine clays and fossil seashells producing Italy’s most exquisite olive oils.     In March 2017, Domenica Fiore was honoured with product and packaging awards in multiple categories at the 2017 Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition. In the competition for Northern Hemisphere Extra Virgin Olive Oil, our Olio Novello won Gold while Olio Reserva and Olio Veritas each won Silver medals. Gold and Silver awards were received for our Olio Veritas and Olio Monaco packaging, acknowledging the contemporary design of our labels and the effective use of design standards, respectively.

    Now in its 18th year, this highly regarded competition is the top-ranking EVOO competition in the United States and fifth in the world, bringing together the best oils from around the world to be celebrated for achieving the highest standards of integrity, quality and professionalism. The competition was comprised of 369 producers from Argentina, Australia, Chile, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Portugal, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, the Uruguay and the United States.

    A 100-point scoring system is used in this competition, rating oils by aroma, taste and harmony.  A total score of 94 and over allows for the possibility of a Best of Class award. Gold requires 86-100 points, Silver 76-85 and Bronze 65-75.

    Our early cold press of organic extra virgin olive oil, Gold medal winner Olio Novello, is a blend of Moraiolo, Frantoio and Leccino olives. High in polyphenols, this intense green and fruity unfiltered oil has flavours of fresh herbs and artichoke with a spicy pepper finish.

    Olio Reserva, our international award-winning master blend of carefully selected Moraiolo, Leccino and Frantoio olives, is cold-pressed to produce a fruity, well-balanced DOP extra virgin olive oil.

    Olio Veritas, our cold press of organic extra virgin olive oil, is a blend of Frantoio, Leccino and Canino olives. Hand-harvested in November and pressed within four hours, this medium-robust oil has spiciness with notes of green almond, arugula and freshly cut grass.

    Our Olio Monaco, is produced exclusively from a single variety of Canino olives. This exquisite oil, with aromas of green fruit and notes of herbs, has exceptional harmony and persistence.   This oil, along with all Domenica Fiore products, is Kosher certified and certified organic.

    This is the third time Domenica Fiore participated in TerraOlivo, the Mediterranean International Olive Oil Competition held in the oldest area of olive oil in Jerusalem.   • The Athena International Olive Oil Competition 2016

    The Athena International Olive Oil Competition 2016 is the first international olive oil competition held in Greece. Our Olio Novello and Olio Monaco took home the coveted Gold Medals, while our DOP certified Olio Reserva received a Silver Medal, distinguishing Domenica Fiore oils among the elite of participants. An international panel of experts, including globally recognized judge Antonio Giuseppe Lauro and Alexandra Kicenik Devarenne, founder of Extra Virgin Alliance (www.extravirginalliance.com) judged oils submitted from 12 countries.

    The International Competition Extra Virgin Olive Oil “TerraOlivo” 2014 (Mediterranean International Olive Oil Competition) is held in the oldest area of origin of olive oil in Jerusalem with 489 entries participating from 21 countries. Domenica Fiore is proud to announce our DOP organic blend, Olio Reserva, was awarded the “Gran Prestige Gold”, the newly released monicultivar Olio Monaco and our early harvest Olio Novello, both achieved Prestige Gold awards.

    Sensory evaluation of the entries using the “blind” tasting method was conducted by a renowned judging panel with representation from Israel, Italy, Argentina, Spain, Greece and the Palestinian Authority.

    The major awards in TerraOlivo are, “Gran Prestige Gold” (over 86 points), “Prestige Gold” (over 76 points), and “Gold” (over 65 points).
