GOLD at the 2019 NYIOOC

Domenica Fiore now among the most awarded olive oils in the world.

Domenica Fiore is honored to have been generously acknowledged and awarded for all of our oils at this year’s New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC). Gold medals were awarded to our Classico, Electus, Veritas, Monaco, Reserva, Novello and our newest addition, the super premium night-harvest oil, Novello di Notte.

This year’s results places Domenica Fiore among the most awarded producers overall for the 2019 NYIOOC.

We are incredibly grateful to have been recognized by such a prestigious competition and panel of judges in such a meaningful way and look forward to participating once again next year.

The 7th annual New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC) was held May 5th through May 10th, 2019. This premier event draws the most renowned judges from around the world to analyze the largest collection of extra virgin olive oils ever assembled and identify the year’s best of the best.

Over 900 entries from 28 countries were judged by a panel of 18 experts from 13 different countries, making the NYIOOC, by far, the world’s largest olive oil competition with both the highest number of entries and countries represented. This competition is widely regarded as the most prestigious of all the olive oil competitions worldwide.

Of the 900 producers that participated in this year’s competition, Italy submitted the highest number of entries, with 223 submissions and a 70% success rate, followed by Spain and the USA. Italy producers also received the highest number of awards for the third year in a row, with 157 awards given.

Among this year’s competition panel leaders were Miciyo Yamada and Lina Smith. Ms. Yamada is the first and only Japanese who passed the Italian Olive Oil Taster examination organized by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies. Ms. Smith is a Boston-based olive oil educator and consultant. Also found on the prestigious judging panel was Dr. Antonio G. Lauro. Dr. Lauro is an olive oil consultant, journalist and panel leader, an accessor of extra virgin olive oil quality since 1995 and an International Olive Council (IOC) panel leader since 2003.
